Job Description:

The Managing Account Executive is responsible for the overall relationship and financial management of a portfolio of large group clients aligned with National Consulting firms in the 1000+ group market. This role has little new selling accountability but manages a significant portfolio of group clients in the National Accounts team. This is done by understanding the clients' changing needs, providing benefits advice, and keeping clients informed of changes impacting benefit plans and Sun Life Financial's value proposition, products and services. There are annual, persistency, execution and profitability targets as well as a small new business target for this role.

Main accountabilities:

  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with plan sponsors and their advisors

  • Responsible for the growth and profitability of an assigned block of business

  • Works in partnership with the client's and their consultants to ensure that the client's needs are met through the delivery of value-added products and services

What do you need to succeed?

  • Extensive experience (7 to 10 years) in group insurance benefit plans (sales, underwriting or consulting)

  • Experience working with clients and executives within the client organization as well as with group insurance benefit plan advisors

  • Knowledge of group insurance benefit plan design including flexible benefit plans, underwriting and financial management, technology and Internet applications, benefit and plan taxation, communications and administration procedures, claims practices, government legislation and current developments in the benefits field

  • Integrity, customer focus, strong leadership skills and the ability to work successfully in a team environment

  • Strong understanding of client needs and ability find solutions that satisfy concerns of all parties

  • Strong negotiation, analytical and influencing skills

  • Self-starter and results oriented

  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal and communication skills, and be adept at project management and handling of multiple priorities

  • Need to have a valid driver's license

  • Bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada and worldwide.

Unique requirements:

  • Group Insurance Licence issued by La Chambre de Sécurité Financière du Québec or a Fellowship designation from the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and/or the Society of Actuaries

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
