Account Manager (Japan)

Role Overview:
This role is focused on building long-term, trust-based relationships with clients across the Financial, Corporate, Government, and Academic sectors in Japan. You will act as a key partner to our clients, understanding their business needs and providing tailored Dow Jones solutions that help them achieve their goals. You will also collaborate with colleagues across APAC to deliver high-quality service and develop long-term partnerships.

You Will:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Japanese clients, acting as a trusted advisor and point of contact.

  • Understand client businesses, challenges, and objectives to propose Dow Jones solutions that deliver tangible value.

  • Manage account renewals and ensure timely fulfillment of contractual obligations.

  • Identify opportunities for additional growth within accounts, including up-selling and cross-selling relevant products and services.

  • Collaborate with internal teams across Product, Sales, Legal, Marketing, and Customer Support to deliver seamless client experiences.

  • Maintain accurate records of client interactions, opportunities, and forecasts in our CRM system.

  • Participate in industry events and associations to strengthen Dow Jones’ brand presence in Japan.

You Have:

  • Native-level Japanese and business-level English.

  • 5+ years of experience in account management, client relationship management, or a similar client-facing role, preferably with Japanese corporate or financial clients.

  • Strong initiative, self-motivation, and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.

  • Exceptional relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills, with a client-first mindset.

  • Experience in consultative sales or solution-selling, ideally in news, financial information, or B2B media sectors.

  • Understanding of emerging technologies, web platforms, and trends in the media or information services industry.

  • Knowledge of Risk & Compliance solutions is a plus.

  • Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment and collaborate with international teams.
