The primary role of the Business Development Manager is to prospect for new clients and building new business pipeline by networking, cold calling, or other means of generating interest from potential clients. They must then plan persuasive approaches and pitches that will convince potential clients to do business with Maersk. Developing a rapport with new clients is a key part of the job role.

Job Responsibilities:

Business Development

  • Prospect for potential new clients and turn this into increased profitable business
  • Ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities.  Identify and meet potential clients and decision makers by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network
  • Present Maersk to potential clients, ensuring their knowledge on Maersk capabilities and services are relevant and up to date
  • Use tools such as LinkedIn to research and build relationships with new clients
  • Screen potential RFI/RFP by analyzing tender information and evaluate internal fit and recommend next steps
  • Plan approaches and pitches. Work with internal teams to develop proposals and pricing the solution/service that speaks to the client's needs, concerns, and objectives and submit on time
  • Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements and solutions globally, developing and negotiating contracts, integrating contract requirements with business operations
  • Work with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation and transition to Account Management team

RFI/RFP Data Analysis & Present Findings and Recommendation

  • Prepare the appropriate questionnaire for data collection from clients. Analysis data and presents it to the client with an optimal and cost efficient solution
  • Collaborate with Project and Planning, Cost Modelling and Operations teams to build an optimal solution, present findings and recommendations

Business Development Planning

  • Attend industry functions, such as events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and trends
  • Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales
  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Lead and people manage the Korea business development team, reporting to the Cluster Head of BD, while mentoring and developing talent to drive high performance.
  • Build an inclusive and collaborative team environment aligned with company values and goals.

Job Requirements:

  • At least possessing A bachelor’s degree (in Logistics & Supply Chain Management or related discipline preferred but not mandatory)
  • 12+ years of relevant experience in business development, sales, or solution design in the 3PL/logistics/supply chain industry.
  • Vertical exposures to Fashion & lifestyle, retails, FMCG will be an advantage
  • Demonstrate advanced understanding of modern DC operations for different commodity / customers
  • Demonstrate advanced understanding of e-commerce technology, local and cross border fulfillment for different commodity / customers
  • Strong ability to understand, communicate with, and effectively interact with people across cultures and countries
  • Good analytical, conceptual thinking and problem solving skills
  • Good command of English/Korean, both spoken and written
