Summary of This Role

The Technical Sales Advisor works directly with our sales team to support new name and existing client sales engagements, from early-stage meetings through to handover to our implementations team.  The Technical Sales Advisor provides support to the sales team by providing in-depth technical & business knowledge of payment processing, acceptance and associated services (including fraud and payment security).  This role is equal parts internal and external, and spends considerable time interacting and consulting with existing and prospective clients to assist in solutioning, presenting and helping to sell products alongside the Sales managers.

What Part Will You Play?

  • As the issuer processing Subject Matter Expert (SME), you’ll provide strategic support to Sales during various phases of the sales cycle demonstrating highly in-depth knowledge of payment processing designs and or products 

  • Leads proposal support to the sales team, leads and review the completion of the business, technical and functional sections of RFI and RFP documents

  • Completes solution design work, addressing client requirements and working with internal technical and commercial teams to formulate a winning proposal. 

  • You’ll run value proposition sessions with internal teams to develop strong, quantifiable and winning themes to build our responses around. 

  • Design and develop product demonstrations if needed using established prototyping sales software and create and lead pitch presentations to prospective clients, to include those product demonstrations 

  • Remains knowledgeable and up-to-date on the current product/service portfolio and changes/developments within the payments industry. Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of all applications, modules, Value Added Products (VAP) offerings, and/or systems that are being sold by the supported Sales team.

  • Maintain accurate & current product & services knowledge working collaboratively with product teams across the organization.

What Are We Looking For in This Role?

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Science, Engineering or Computing

  • Relevant Experience

  • Minimum 10+ years relevant experience in the credit card industry, including issuer processing, fraud and risk management tools and software, and a strong understanding of financial applications and services, security, access controls and integration options.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience of working in the payments industry, preferably ecommerce, mobile, payment security & risk management.

  • Knowledge of card programs and products, market and industry trends, issuer pain points, and how various products fit within an Issuer's systems is beneficial.

  • Good understanding of the latest trends in IT – cloud computing, big data, APIs etc.

  • Working knowledge of API’s, mobile development, payment processing

  • Experience presenting to mid-level / senior audiences.

  • Strong writing skills, able to clearly and concisely convey value propositions in proposals and presentations.

  • Advanced ability to be an effective problem solver and act quickly to resolve issues.

  • Effective listener and communicator who is able to be a reliable strategic partner to the sales team. 

  • Team player, helping out on opportunities across regions depending on work stack, and proactively supporting and coaching more junior members of the team.

  • Effective relationship building, to grow both internal network in order to create accurate, up to date sales collateral; and external network to gain industry / prospect insights.

  • Strong analytical skills, able to identify prospect needs and develop a tailored value proposition and solution with clearly identified benefits to differentiate against competition.

  • Technical experience an advantage – knowledge of solution architecture, integration.
